Privacy Policy
Nakama keeps what you tell it so it can remember it. This page says exactly what is stored, who else sees it, and how to delete it.
1. What we collect
- Your account. You can use Nakama without an account: in that case only an anonymous identifier exists. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we store the identifier the provider returns and, if you choose to share them, your name and email. With Apple's "Hide My Email" we only ever see the relay address.
- What you tell it. Conversation messages, diary entries, the memories and summaries Nakama builds from them, and the mood you log.
- Your purchases. Subscription status and in-app purchases. Payment is processed by Apple or Google; we never see or store your card details.
- Minimal technical diagnostics. Language-model usage per call and errors, so the service can be kept running and its cost accounted for. There is no behavioural analytics and no advertising tracking.
2. Permissions the app asks for
Each permission is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can revoke it in system settings without losing the rest of the app.
- Microphone and speech recognition — to dictate instead of typing. On iOS and macOS transcription runs on the device itself: the audio is never uploaded. What gets sent is the resulting text, exactly as if you had typed it.
- Notifications — so Nakama can write to you when it has been a while.
- Calendar and reminders — to take into account what you already have on, and to note down what you ask it not to forget.
- Camera and photos — only when you pick an image to show it and talk about it.
- Face ID / biometrics — to put the diary behind your device lock, if you turn it on. The check is done by the system; the app only receives a yes or a no.
3. Health
If you turn it on, Nakama writes the mood you log to Apple Health, and nothing else. It does not read any Health data, does not send it to any server or third party, and it is never used for advertising or any marketing purpose. You can revoke it in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
4. Who data is sent to
Nakama runs on these services, and each one only receives what it needs to do its part:
- Supabase — the database and server where your account lives, with its conversations, diary and memories.
- Google (Gemini) — generates Nakama's replies and the diary entries. It receives the conversation text and the memories needed to answer.
- Apple and Google — sign-in, notifications and payment for purchases.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status.
These providers process data on their own servers, which may be outside your country. Everything travels encrypted.
Nakama's voice is synthesised on your device, with the system synthesiser: it is not sent to any speech service.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
- There is no advertising SDK, no IDFA and no cross-app tracking.
- Your conversations are not used to train models.
- There are no public profiles: nobody but you sees what you tell it.
6. Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the account is active. You can delete it from inside the app, at Settings → Your account → Delete account: that permanently removes the profile, conversations, diary, memories and inventory, with no recoverable copy. You can export your diary first, from Settings.
Deleting the account does not cancel an active subscription: that is done from your Apple ID or Google Play settings, because they handle the billing.
7. Minimum age
Nakama is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if we find an account belonging to one, it is deleted.
8. Changes to this policy
If something material changes, we give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date above says when it was last updated.
